Pancake Tuesday 2023

These past two days in Marianistas, we celebrated the Pancake Tuesday 2023 with our English Assistant Teachers. It is a traditional custom celebrated in the UK the day before Ash Wednesday, the start of Lent. And we love celebrating with our students.

Why pancakes? This tradition goes back many years when people used to fast during Lent; they had to make a sacrifice. Therefore, making pancakes was a great opportunity for people to use up all the ingredients they could not eat during Lent.

And what have we done? It consisted of teaching our students how it started and how it’s celebrated. We taught them in our English corner how to make PANCAKES. Of course, we enjoyed eating together.

This is THE RECIPE:

Ingredients:
1 cup of Flour
1 egg
1 cup of milk

Material:
Frying pan
Bowl
A whisk
A sift

Instructions:
SIFT the flour in a bowl
Then ADD the milk
CRACK the egg in the Mix. BATTER

Toppings:
The most popular toppings are golden syrup and lemon juice with castor sugar. But our students have preferred Nutella.
